It was a brilliant project to work on even though the budget was very tight. We could only afford to build one side.

The shape started with a large cardboard tube with wood formers either end. The gaps were filled with foam which was shaped then the entire model fiberglassed over to give a solid surface to work on.

The main gun was built mainly out of aluminium and plastic.

The deck was laid out on the floor in reverse, the gaps were little strips of wood glued to the floor. We put a release down, then fiberglassed over it all. This was then lifted up and the wood strips pulled out. This then gave us a deck with gaps in it..

... once the deck was trimmed to fit then attached, the rest of the detail went on.

Time was a bit of a problem as well so we had to limit the level of detail that went on this model. The public viewing it would not get very close so we left off a lot of the finer detail to save time.

A brilliant model to work on and was loaded into a container very soon after finishing it. When unloading in Germany, someone drove a forklift through it doing major damage arg!!! As far as I know it was repaired.
